Second dinner

The boy has an appetite of a horse. Apparently, his main dinner is insufficient. He decided to come into the kitchen to rummage the dustbin for seconds.

He decided to lick the aluminium foil paper which had wrapped the otak-otak fish in.  Had to quickly clean up the mess before Po-Po sees it.

What a mess!

My Under-table Dogs

Most nights, my kids will hold a congregation under my study table ..... conducted largely in dreamland.

Full-time maid

Since returning from my holidays last Tuesday, I thought I would be well-rested for work in the new year. Instead, I found myself working as the home cleaner for my kids.

The boy began vomiting on Wednesday afternoon four times. The next day, the same thing happened. He also had a bout of diarrhea. What a lethal combo!

If things could get any worse, it did. My late getting up on Thursday morning saw a melted dark chocolate poo puddle in my living room. He came to wake me up earlier but I put him to "snooze". My bad.

Things have recovered since then.

I think his vomiting is due to him swallowing his breakfast.  I noticed that he eats so fast and that he hardly chews his food before swallowing. I can still see the undigested meat remnants in the vomit. As much as he loves drinking milk, I think he might have become sensitive to lactose lately. So, he has to abstain from mid-day milk for the time being and all his food has to be small-size. Now, fingers crossed - no vomit. His poo is re-forming to solid state again. Hurrah!

Boot camp at Daycare

I am taking a long weekend off away from home. So, the kids are at daycare full time (3 nights). This is Hiro's first overnight stay.

Hiro has set up his command post in his favourite room known as the kitchen.

Popo said he managed to round some support to occupy the kitchen for his famine cause.

CNY around the corner

Ahh.... it's the time of the year when the kids want to be extra 'helpful' in the kitchen.

Vet visit

Today Hiro is at the vet to have have his sutures removed. At the waiting room, the impatient boy decides he wanted to peek into the examination room to check why it's taking so long. His sutures have not completely healed. So, he'll be back later in the week to remove the rest of the stitches.

Surgery Day

The day began like any other. Usual morning walk.... but much shorter distance.
No breakfast. So, he spent this morning napping before leaving to the vet.

Prepping for surgery. Some anti-histamine and antibiotics on drip first.
Calm boy on the table. Barking like crazy in the cage after 5 minutes locked in while on drip.

His whining because he's in the cage.
Surgery went well. Tumours removed on one side. The other lumps (1 big 1 small) are fat deposits. Vet said no need to remove.
Stitches will be removed in 10 days.

Tapau back, wiped down, fed and resting now. Bandage (half-hanging) will be removed tomorrow morning. Hopefully, he doesn't need to wear too much of the cone of shame.

Light walking and no bathing until next Sunday.

The boy with one ball and two lumps

Hiro went for a pre-neutering check-up at the vet over the weekend. An earlier visit last month noted that he has only one ball and two lumps. So, the next visit was to have a quick ultra-sound to locate his other ball before surgery.

Thinking that the balls and lumps can be removed at one go (koadim under one sedation), we find out that he is tested positive for heartworm and one of the lumps on his abdomen is a mass cell tumour. So, he had a second visit for an ultra-sound under light sedation, to check his internal organs for any signs of cancer. The vet said that his main organs appear clear.

Since one of his tumours is aggressive, his surgery to remove both lumps is planned for 3 January. Then, he has to focus to get his heartworm condition under control (requiring 3 injections over 2 months).

His elective neutering has to be put on the back burner for now.

In a blink of an eye

It's been one month since the boy arrived. From the humpy first days to the calm boy now. How time flies ..... how far he has come to be....

Daily adventures at Daycare

Today, the boy watched intently as Kong Kong opened a durian.

Thank God it's Friday

Riko is usually not one who will diligently turn up for breakfast on time. She will take ages to start eating and to eat because she picks what she wants to eat in her bowl.

But nowadays, she has to turn up promptly at breakfast time, eat or her food will be eaten.

We call this - The art of vulturing.

Faces of discontent

Riko can never sit still at home. She'll look like this by my work table until she gets to go to daycare.

So, Hiro walks with Riko to daycare every morning. He'll bark when he sees us leave because he wants to follow too.

Pins and needles

The boy went for his second acupuncture therapy session. This round he got to watch a local Malaysian dog show.

Triple vanilla trio

Our god aunties came for dinner. We had ice cream for dessert.

Sunday Yam Cake run

Morning walks include my breakfast. The boy is popular with the restaurant helpers!

Their morning walks include some casual walkabout but serious sniffing ....

.... and greeting friends in the park.
